Self-improvement, Self-discovery, and Self-fun Books

The Power of Intention, by Dr. Wayne Dyer.

"Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change." As a coach, I know that changing the way we think can change our lives. I see it every day, in myself and in my clients. However, in his latest book, The Power of Intention, Dr. Wayne Dyer goes far beyond simply encouraging us to control our thoughts (although he does say that is very important). He teaches us how to partner with a universal source of energy that he calls the "power of intention." This power has seven main attributes: creativity, kindness, love, beauty, expansion, abundance and receptivity. As we become more aware and committed to these attributes in our own lives, we also become more connected to this universal energy. He calls people who are consciously co-creating with this energy source "connectors" and describes them as "individuals who have made themselves available for success." Instead of saying (or thinking), "With my luck this will never work out," connectors are more likely to say, "I intend to create this and I know it will work out."

Yes, this book will help you get a better job, have better relationships, and be more successful, if that's what you want. But the true power of this book lies in how can help us move from an ego-driven life filled with quick fixes of happiness and step into a more authentic, joyful, and spiritually fulfilling life.
