Getting
Things Done, The Art of Stress-Free Productivity, by David
Allen
Here's a radical thought for you our
productivity is directly proportional to our ability to relax.
The clearer our minds and the more organized our thoughts,
the more effective and productive we become. In many ways,
the system Mr. Allen promotes is zen-like in its focus on
being in the present, with a "mind like water."
So how do you develop a clear "mind like water?"
By addressing these three issues:
1. Clarifying the intended outcome
2. Deciding what the next physical action step is, and/or
3. Having a trusted system for reminders of the outcome and
action step.
It sounds simple, and it is which is what makes it
so very powerful.
I've steered away from productivity books for years, because
for the most part, I didn't feel they had a lot of applicability
to my life and the way I work. This book, however, is different.
It doesn't matter if you're a CEO or middle management in
a large corporation, a self-employed professional, or a stay-at-home
parent, the systems in Getting Things Done will work
for you. They really will de-stress your life and increase
your productivity.
